Years in the Industry? 10

Why do you want to serve on the TWHBEA National Board? I have served on the National Board for the past three years and I have enjoyed serving on the Horse Show Development Committee, the Enforcement Committee, the Marketing Committee and Chair of the Performance Horse Committee this year. I feel that the committees should be the driving force behind new ideas at TWHBEA. The current staff has reduced the role of the committees this year and I would hope that this would change. I want to see all committees reprise the strong roles that they have had in TWHBEA programs. National Board members are elected to help shape the organizations programs assisted by the staff. This is not currently happening. I believe that this needs to change.

Personal Background:Married to Linda Vaughn for 38 years. We have one child, James, married to DeeAnna, and two grandchildren, Ethan 3 years and Claire 16 months. Holds a Bachelor’s and a Masters Degree in Education from Kent State University, plus numerous Food Marketing course and basic accounting courses. Native of Valley City, Ohio which is located 35 miles south of Cleveland. Retired from the Supermarket Industry when family sold chain of Supermarkets in 1999. Has owned and shown Tennessee Walking Horses Since 1975. Has shown performance and flat shod horses. President of the Buckeye Walking Horse Association 1998 to present and on the Ohio Celebration Board of Directors since 1998. Currently on TWHBEA Executive Board as Vice President for Performance Horse.

Other Comments: I believe that the Tennessee Walking Horse is a great multi-faceted animal and that TWHBEA’s responsibility is to promote the entire horse. I also believe the main purposes of TWHBEA is to protect the blood line and service our membership. I feel that TWHBEA is not doing enough to serve our membership (customers) by providing quick, intelligent responses to member’s questions.
